They brave fires that exceed 500 degrees to saves lives and property, and thanks to new protective turnout gear, provided for by the community created SAFE-T plan, CCFR firefighter/EMTs are safer than ever before.

The new gear, made out of an innovative PBI material, provides greater heat and flame resistance, and more mobility than the old gear that was nearly ten years old.
“The new gear prevents overheating by keeping the firefighter’s core body temperature consistent, it also has two built in safety harnesses that allow for quicker, safer rescues,” explains Chief Russ Mason. In addition, reflective material on the gear makes evening and roadside rescue efforts safer.
The purchase of the turnout gear was part of the community created SAFE-T (Securing a Future of Excellence – Together) recommendations.
