The Bureau of Department Operations is
responsible for emergency response and daily activities of Central
County Fire & Rescue.
The bureau is made up of an Assistant
Chief who is responsible for supervision of 3 shifts of 22 uniformed
personnel that work a 24-hour shift. Each shift is led by a
Battalion Chief. The Battalion Chief is responsible for supervision
and command of 4 engine companies and 2 ladder companies.
Each company contains a Captain who
supervises an Engineer (driver) and a minimum of one or more
firefighters. The companies are responsible for both emergency and
non-emergency operations. Emergency operations include fires,
medical calls, rescues, and other calls for assistance. The
non-emergency operations include daily training, maintaining response
equipment, pre-fire planning, station tours, smoke detectors
installation, and other requested activities.
The operations bureau responds to over
5,400 emergency calls for service each year
