Operations Bureau

The Bureau of Department Operations is responsible for emergency response and daily activities of Central County Fire & Rescue.

The bureau is made up of an Assistant Chief who is responsible for supervision of 3 shifts of 22 uniformed personnel that work a 24-hour shift. Each shift is led by a Battalion Chief. The Battalion Chief is responsible for supervision and command of 4 engine companies and 2 ladder companies.

Each company contains a Captain who supervises an Engineer (driver) and a minimum of one or more firefighters. The companies are responsible for both emergency and non-emergency operations. Emergency operations include fires, medical calls, rescues, and other calls for assistance. The non-emergency operations include daily training, maintaining response equipment, pre-fire planning, station tours, smoke detectors installation, and other requested activities.

The operations bureau responds to over 5,400 emergency calls for service each year
