Earlier this year Central County Fire and Rescue took delivery of a brand new state of the art Fire Safety House from Mobile Concepts by Scotty. This new fire safety tool replacea a seventeen year old fire safety house that was designed and built by firefighters and has trained tens of thousands of children how to escape from a burning house.
The new Fire Safety House was purchased with funds obtained through
a grant from the Federal Assistance to Firefighters Program. the new
safety house allows public educators to deliver training on severe
weather, earthquake and home safety. The multi-room mobile trainer is
equipped with a simulated kitchen/living room area that has bleacher
seating with a capacity of 20 students. Participants can learn how to
prevent kitchen fires, common home injuries and practice what to do
during a tornado or earthquake. The second room allows students to
practice their E.D.I.T.H. (Exit Drills In The Home) skills that they
have learned from firefighters and public safety educators. Some of
the features of the new Fire Safety House are a bedroom door that
actually heats up to simulate a fire in a hallway and digital sound and
light system to simulate severe weather. the safety House is
completely handicap accessible so that everyone has the changce to lear
life safing skills. On the exterior there is a retractable outdoor
shelter and a wireless P.A. system that allows outdoor instruction to
large groups.
The old fire safety house was donated to Stratford
Fire Protection District in Stratford, Missouri. The unit will
continue to provide life saving training to a community that has a less
demanding schedule and work load. Firefighters who were instrumental
in building the first fire safety trailer are extremely happy that
children in rural southwestern Missouri will have the same oppurtunity
to learn these life saving skills as did the children of our community.
